Towards a New Standard – Mediation Grammar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Mediation Grammar<\/strong> (MG) is a set of minimum requirements for enforcing the informational rights of foreign (non-EU) immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees legally entitled to stay in the territory of a Member State of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MG has been officially published<\/a> <\/strong>as a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA 18014:2023) by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN)<\/strong>. Its full text can be downloaded, free of charge, from here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MG covers three aspects of migrant interaction with public services: linguistic accessibility, informational adequacy, and actualisation of rights. Its broad aim is to improve the perceived quality of provided services and particularly their effectiveness in facilitating migrant integration into the host societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MG can also work as an outcome-based measurement system to compare how effective similar or identical services are for different foreign national groups and\/or when provided om different EU Member States, irrespective of the heterogeneities in the corresponding service delivery structures. This can pave the way to establishing a common approach and indicators for measuring and monitoring the quality of services to migrants at the EU level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
